Hi I'm Joey333,
As a young child growing up through foster homes, I learned early the benifits of drawing and creating as a form of escaping my realities. I found that I made others happy by drawing happy or silly pictures as well. When I became of age I tried my hardest to fit in and change the world, joining the marines, becoming a teacher, then becoming a mother while leaving my art behind, as I was convinced it'll never take me anywhere.
It
wasn’t until I lost everything during hard times when I picked up a pencil and started drawing again. While living in my car, I mustered up my courage and traveled the whole country alone with my pet bird, finding peaceful spots to draw and create my book No rose for a Fox'. I learned so much by watching those around me light up as i shared my art and encouraged strangers to draw with me. With what little art supplies I had, struggling with grief and homelessness I found my art brought me back to life and i felt like me agiain. Most children who grew up in foster care end up on the streets like me, but unfortunately take to drugs for some kind of relief from a society that doesnt hear them.
I learned to “choose art over death” and my mission is to get others to try it as well. Each piece is hand drawn and made during my travels. Thank you for visiting
